SIGNS OF
EYESTRAIN
Eyestrain – also known as ‘eye fatigue’ – often occurs after long periods spent reading, or staring at digital screens. Certain lighting conditions can also cause eyestrain. Symptoms of eyestrain include; headaches, red, irritated/dry eyes and neck or back pain.
MANAGING STRESSED
& TIRED EYES
If eyestrain is the result of too long spent in front of a screen, then regular breaks should help rest the eyes. Looking away from the screen every 20 minutes relaxes the eyes muscles. It also encourages blinking, which helps prevent dry eyes.
In most cases, when eyestrain is the result of an eye condition, it can be treated with glasses or contact lenses.

RELATED EYE CONDITIONS
Tired eyes could also be related to the following eye conditions
- Astigmatism: Blurred vision that results from an irregular-shaped cornea means a person may have to squint and overwork the eye to see clearly.
- Age-related long-sightedness (presbyopia): The lens of the eye hardens with age, forcing the eye to work harder to focus clearly.
- Long-sightedness (hyperopia): A person might squint and overwork the eye to see close-up objects clearly.
