EVERYDAY VISION
DEFENCE

Everyday life presents a surprising
number of hazards for our eyes
and vision. Here are some risks to
be aware of and tips for eye protection.

HOME
HAZARDS

About half of eye injuries result from everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning and gardening.

Safety glasses are recommended when doing DIY tasks to protect against sharp objects and splinters. The same applies when using power tools and lawnmowers. Also consider eye protection for sport activities and for protection against blue light and harmful UV rays.

SPORTING
PERILS

Certain sports and outdoor activities increase the risk of eye injury.

As well as protecting your eyes, eyewear can also aid your vision – for example, by reducing the sun’s glare while skiing and driving.

Polarized sunglasses are helpful for golfers, anglers and tennis players. Goggles are also advisable for swimmers.
